From Struggle to Victory
By Blessing Adegbite.
The historic re-election of His Excellency, Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, is a powerful testimony to the supremacy of the Almighty God. The journey to victory was tough, rough, and traumatic, marked by intense political struggles, intimidation, and unprecedented challenges. Yet, against all odds, light prevailed over darkness.
The ordeal began with the seizure of local government funds, which severely constrained the state government and was perceived as an attempt to financially handicap the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke.
As the election drew closer, the people of Osun State woke up one morning to witness the massive destruction of Governor Adeleke’s campaign billboards across the state. This was followed by reports of shootings, killings, and acts of violence that created fear and unrest across the state.
There were also allegations of police bias, unlawful arrests, and intimidation of Accord leaders and members, as well as the takeover of motor parks and garages by alleged Osun APC political thugs. The atmosphere became so tense that many supporters, including government officials, were afraid to openly display campaign materials for fear of becoming targets of violence and losing their lives.
Imagine putting yourself in Governor Ademola Adeleke’s shoes—hectic campaign activities during the day, sleepless nights, and the enormous responsibility of leading a government while confronting an atmosphere of political tension and uncertainty.
The pressure was immense. Fear gripped many Accord supporters, while the opposition appeared confident, boasting of “federal might” and predicting an easy victory, playing penalty to an empty goalpost.
Yet, as I followed the campaign train of Governor Adeleke across the state, I witnessed something stronger than fear: resilience, courage, and determination in the faces of the good people of Osun State. While the opposition relied on claims of federal power, the people remained steadfast in their faith in God and their belief in the power of their votes.
What appeared, at some point, to be a politically impossible and technically knockout battle for Governor Ademola Adeleke ultimately ended in praise.
On Sunday, August 16, 2026, Governor Ademola Adeleke emerged victorious in the governorship election, securing a historic second term. The day will remain unforgettable—not merely as an electoral victory, but as a profound reminder that intimidation can not permanently silence the people and that, ultimately, no earthly power is greater than the Almighty God.
As Scripture declares: “And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.”
The victory of Governor Ademola Adeleke is, therefore, a testament to faith, perseverance, and the supremacy of God. To God alone be all the glory.
Congratulations once again to the people’s Governor, His Excellency, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke. May your second term bring even greater achievements, unprecedented development, and prosperity to the people of Osun State.
Imole shines on till 2030!
