Resilience in the Face of Vandalism: Commending Hon. Babatunde Bakare’s Bold Stand for IMOLE
Following the unfortunate and coordinated destruction of billboards belonging to Governor Ademola Adeleke and other ACCORD properties by APC thugs, the atmosphere has been charged with intimidation. Yet, in a display of remarkable courage and resilience, Hon. Babatunde Bakare, widely known as ITESIWAJU has refused to be cowed. We write today to commend him for the immediate installation of two new strategic billboards at the Abere roundabout junction in Osogbo and the Aisu country home junction in Ede.
This act of reinstating his presence is more than just political advertising; it is a profound statement of defiance against violence. Born on September 13, 1985, in Osogbo to the family of Mr. and Mrs. Fatai Bakare,BB is a son of the soil with deep roots in Ile Agbopa, Ede South Local Government. His decision to plant these flags at such critical junctions signals that the voice of the people and the vision of the ACCORD cannot be silenced by the thuggery of the opposition. It is a homecoming of strength for a leader who was nurtured with values of hard work and service to others.
To understand the weight of this resilience, one must look at the man behind the billboard. BB is not a career politician playing games; he is a highly trained professional with a global perspective. A graduate of Environmental Science from the University of Portsmouth, UK, with a Second-Class Upper Division, he brings an intellectual rigor to leadership. His career path from teaching Chemistry in the United Kingdom to becoming a Project Manager at Geotech Soil Stabilisation Limited; shows a man who understands how to build, manage, and sustain structures. He has supervised critical projects across seven countries, including Ireland, Germany, and Italy, giving him a unique understanding of sustainable development.
However, this commendation serves as a stern note of warning to the APC thugs who have made a habit of destroying public and party properties. To those who believe that tearing down Governor Ademola Adeleke’s billboards or damaging ACCORD assets will halt the momentum of change, you are gravely mistaken. Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent. Your coordinated attacks only serve to highlight the desperation of a party that fears the overwhelming popularity of the current administration. You cannot kill an idea by breaking the wood it is written on.
Let it be known that the "new breed" of leaders in Osun State, exemplified by BB possesses a resilience forged in international fires. A man who has navigated diverse cultures and advanced systems in Europe cannot be intimidated by local thugs. Every billboard you destroy is merely an opportunity for leaders like Bakare to rebuild stronger. The people of Osun are watching, and they are tired of the politics of destruction; they are ready for the politics of construction and progress that men with global exposure bring to the table.
In conclusion, we salute Hon. Babatunde Bakare for his "Story of Passion and Perseverance." His installation of the billboards at Abere and Aisu is a testament to his character as a husband, a father, and a patriot who refuses to yield to fear. To the vandals, take note: the tide has turned. You cannot stop the sun from rising by crowing at it, and you cannot stop the progress of Osun State by breaking billboards. We stand with the builders, the professionals, and the resilient leaders who are working tirelessly for the good of our state.
