Osun Grassroots Media Team Passes Vote of Confidence on CoS Akinleye; Debunks Malicious EFCC Arrest Rumors, Demands Answers from Oyetola on Missing $20M Health Fund


Osun Grassroots Media Team, popularly known as Aseyori Imole Osun, has strongly commended the Chief of Staff to the Executive Governor of Osun State, Alhaji Kazeem Kolapo Akinleye, describing him as a beacon of transparency, accountability, and administrative excellence in the handling of state affairs.

In a statement made available to journalists in Osogbo, the prominent media group praised the Chief of Staff for his prudent management of resources, his open-door policy, and his steadfast dedication to the success of the Imole Administration’s people-centered agenda. 

The group noted that Alhaji Akinleye’s profound understanding of grassroots governance and his unblemished record of public service have made him a vital engine room for the Governor Ademola Adeleke-led administration, ensuring that the dividends of democracy reach the common man without bureaucratic bottlenecks.

However, the media group seized the opportunity to categorically debunk and condemn the recent wave of fake news orchestrated by agents of the opposition, the Osun All Progressives Congress (APC). The group described the rumor circulating on social media that Alhaji Akinleye was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) as a "baseless, malicious, and desperate fabrication by a frustrated opposition."

“We want to state unequivocally that the Chief of Staff, Alhaji Kazeem Akinleye, has not been arrested, detained, or invited by the EFCC or any anti-graft agency. He is currently at his desk, discharging his constitutional duties with his usual vigor and patriotic zeal,” the statement read. “This cowardly smear campaign is nothing but the dying kicks of a rejected political party attempting to distract the focused leadership of the Imole Administration.”

The Grassroots Media Team further knocked the Osun APC, advising the opposition to look inward if they are truly searching for financial impropriety. The group challenged the APC to first demand accountability from their principal, former Governor Gboyega Oyetola. 

“It is the height of hypocrisy for the Osun APC to sponsor cheap lies against a transparent public servant when their own leader, former Governor Oyetola, is yet to explain to the good people of Osun State the whereabouts of the 20 Million US Dollar health intervention fund he received while in government. 

“A party that presided over such monumental financial opacity lacks the moral high ground to point accusing fingers. Their current resort to peddling fake news is a clear diversionary tactic to make Osun citizens forget the financial recklessness that characterized the past administration,” the group stated.

The Osun Grassroots Media Team concluded by urging the public, stakeholders, and all well-meaning citizens to disregard the opposition's propaganda. The group reaffirmed its belief in Alhaji Akinleye's integrity and called on all residents to continue supporting the current administration as it works tirelessly to build a prosperous and transparent Osun State for all.

Court restrains UBA from paying out Osun LG allocations

An Oyo State High Court on Friday, 26 September, 2025 restrained the United Bank for Africa (UBA) from paying out any money from accounts opened in the names of the 30 Local Governments in Osun State by the court-sacked All Progressives Congress Local Government Chairmen and councillors.  The order has been served on the bank. The Federal Government on Friday released the seized allocations of each of the 30 Local Governments into the controversial new accounts, a decision the state government took to court in suit number 1/1149/25.  The case which was heard Ex-parte on Friday by Justice A.L.
