Friday, 24th October, 2025, will forever remain a memorable day in the hearts of the sons and daughters of the ancient town of Iyeku in the northern part of Odo-Otin Local Government Area of Osun State. The community came alive with celebration as Royal Fathers, government officials, dignitaries from far and near, and proud indigenes—both young and old—gathered joyfully to witness the official commissioning of the newly completed Iyeku Police Station, fully equipped with two operational motorcycles.
The security facility was donated by a distinguished son of the soil, Chief (Dr.) Samuel Adebanjo Adetunji, popularly known as Dr Fish, the Oluomo of Iyeku Land and fondly called as Ejanla 1.
Dr Fish is a visionary entrepreneur, philanthropist, and livestock management consultant whose innovative ventures have greatly influenced the advancement of aquaculture, agribusiness, and youth empowerment in Nigeria. Through dedication, resilience, and strategic leadership, he built Sammadecom Nigeria Limited, a fast-growing conglomerate with thriving subsidiaries such as Dr Fish Farm, Dr Fish Flight, Dr Fish Oil and Gas, Dr Fish Institute of Aquaculture and Fisheries, Samadecom Construction Company, among others.
Speaking at the commissioning, Chief Dr. Adetunji gave glory to God for His grace from his days of humble beginnings to his current achievements. He explained that his motivation for donating the police station stemmed from his desire to strengthen security architecture, deepen peace, and catalyse development in Iyeku, a community located at the boundary shared with both Kwara and Oyo States.
Osun State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Gotan, who commissioned the facility, applauded Dr Fish’s philanthropic gesture and described it as an invaluable contribution toward improving security in the area. The CP encouraged residents to remain vigilant, cooperate with security personnel, and be steadfast in promoting a law-abiding environment.
In his remarks, His Royal Majesty, Oba Abioye Oyebode, the Olokuku of Okuku, congratulated the people of Iyeku for the landmark achievement and emphasised the importance of community-based support for development. He urged others to emulate Dr Fish’s spirit of giving back.
Similarly, His Royal Majesty, Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal, the Timi of Ede, praised the donor for his noble heart of service and reminded the youth to avoid destructive habits that can jeopardise their future. He encouraged them to aspire toward positive legacy-building, as exemplified by Dr Fish.
The event was graced by numerous dignitaries including the Atapara of Iyeku, Oba Salahudeen Soliu Ajiboye, the Afaji of Faji, Onira of Ira, Onijabe of Ijabe, religious leaders, security agency representatives from DSS, NDLEA, NSCDC, Immigration Service, the Asiwaju of Iyeku Land Alhaji Tajudeen Gbadamosi, High Chiefs of the Atapara-in-Council, and a representative of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, among others.
The newly commissioned police station stands today as a shining monument of peace, and progress for Iyeku, made possible through the visionary generosity of one of its most illustrious sons, Chief (Dr.) Samuel Adebanjo Adetunji
