Osun NLC Chair Fires Back at APC, Describes Party as “Noisy Barrel”

The Chairman of the Osun State chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has responded fiercely to recent criticisms from the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the opposition party as a “noisome barrel” that thrives on propaganda and political stalking.

In a strongly worded statement on Thursday, the labour leader dismissed claims that he lives in hotels and moves around with armed guards, insisting such allegations could only come from those trailing his movements. He accused the APC of political shadowing, saying:

“You could only know my whereabouts and routines if I were being watched and tailed around all the time. I don’t believe people are stalked because they are expected to win a lottery. This is clear political hounding.”

Reacting to insinuations about his personal life, the NLC Chair refuted suggestions of “frolicking with women of easy virtues,” stressing that not everyone shares the “everyday customs” of APC members. He also questioned why public places like hotels and restaurants were suddenly being portrayed as scandalous.

“Painting innocuous and infrequent events as monstrosities provides a glimpse into the odious mindset of these rabid political vipers masquerading as humans,” he said.

He further challenged the APC to present evidence of claims that he personally benefited or received funds from the previous administration, daring the party to produce verifiable receipts.

The NLC boss also addressed the lingering industrial dispute involving the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), defending his position that workers’ safety and property must be secured before resumption.

“Is that the new name for choosing the path of life and peace?” he asked. “If we all engage in political tantrums and violence, who will be left at work? Who will we urge to resume duty?”

He accused the APC of lacking genuine concern for workers’ welfare, noting that their push for an early resumption was politically motivated.

Turning to the wider political climate, the NLC Chair argued that the Osun APC had become synonymous with “lies, plots, defamation, and misrepresentation of the truth,” and predicted the party would face rejection at the polls.

“Why not face the reality that Osun workers, pensioners, and the masses have rejected you? The time for storytelling is far gone. The right time when we will engage you for the whole world to see is around the corner,” he declared.

While expressing little hope for APC’s “redemption,” he urged the party to focus less on Governor Ademola Adeleke and himself, and more on its future ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

“The good people of Osun will still insist on no more tyranny come 2026,” he concluded.
