Her Excellency, Amb. Erelu Ngozi Abeni Adeleke, participated as one of the lead speakers at the National Finance Roundtable Meeting of the National Development Quota (NDQ) and the National Headstart Development Initiative (NHSDI) Strategic Dialogue. The event was held as a side meeting during the 70th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70) at the Nigeria House on 13th March 2026.
The Roundtable brought together distinguished stakeholders and development partners from Nigeria and the United States, fostering meaningful engagement on national development and social progress. Notable Nigerian participants included Dr. Aminu Yusuf, Ambassador Abubakar Jidda, Chika Sylva-Olejeme, Dr. Kehinde Funmilayo, Dr. Emmanuel Nwaozuzu, Mrs. Olusola Jenyo, and Princess Afoma Ngumezi. Representatives from the United States included Dr. Asneth Council, Dr. Mojisola Bafunso, Sharita Garrett, Dr. Gorey V. Ellis, and Ms. Cheryl Howard, alongside other respected stakeholders.
During her presentation, Her Excellency showcased the humanitarian activities and impact of the Esther Adeleke Humanitarian Foundation through a detailed slideshow. The presentation highlighted the foundation’s sustained support for the less privileged, widows, orphans, persons living with disabilities (PwDs), and youths. The audience received the presentation warmly and commended the foundation’s unwavering commitment to humanitarian service.
A key highlight of the meeting was the formal presentation of the Head Start Performance Standards by the United States partners. These standards were officially received by Her Excellency alongside Dr. Aminu Yusuf, Chairman of the National Population Commission of Nigeria, marking a significant milestone in strengthening early childhood development frameworks in the country.
Deliberations at the Roundtable focused on critical development priorities, including the expansion of early childhood education, enhanced developmental support systems, and the strengthening of nutrition frameworks to ensure healthy growth among children.
Furthermore, the dialogue introduced Project Harmony, an innovative framework aimed at integrating the NDQ and NHSDI initiatives into a unified national development platform. This strategic alignment is expected to enhance coordination, improve policy implementation, and drive impactful outcomes across sectors.
The outcomes of the dialogue reaffirmed that the synergy between NDQ and NHSDI will establish a comprehensive development platform focused on strengthening early childhood systems, promoting family-centered social policies, expanding youth capacity development, and advancing economic inclusion.
Her Excellency expressed strong confidence that the resolutions reached at the Roundtable will deliver meaningful and sustainable benefits for Nigerian youths, pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and infants, thereby contributing significantly to national growth and human capital development.
