Traditional Rulers, Alaafin’s Queen, Others Graced the Installation of Osun Governor’s Wife as the Erelu Atunwase of Akola Ijesa Kingdom.

The ancient town of Akola Ijesa stood still on Saturday, 1st November 2025, as the good people of the kingdom, friends, and well-wishers trooped out in their numbers to give a royal and heartfelt welcome to the Erelu Atunwase of Akola Ijesa Kingdom, Her Excellency, Ambassador Erelu Ngozi Abeni Adeleke, Wife of the Governor of Osun State.
The air was filled with jubilation and excitement as traditional drummers, dancers, and cultural troupes ushered in Her Excellency for her Chieftaincy Coronation during the grand celebration of the 2025 Akola Ijesa Day and Ijo Oba Cultural Festival - a day that will forever remain memorable in the annals of Akola Ijesa history.
The colourful event, which drew dignitaries from across the nation and beyond, was held at the Palace Square, Akola Ijesa Kingdom. It was graced by esteemed personalities, including the representatives of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, the Owa Obokun and Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland, His Majesty Sir (Dr.) Kuruhaya Dishon Dansanda II, President and Chairman, Nungura Traditional Council, Adamawa State, Her Royal Majesty Ayaba Abiwumi Owoade, Wife of the Alaafin of Oyo, Royal visitors from Benin Niger Republic,
Chief (Mrs.) Olanike Babawande, Yeyeluwa of Akola Ijesa and Chairperson of the 2025 Akola Ijesa Day, Lieutenant Colonel A.J. Aigbokhan, Commanding Officer, 22 Support Engineer Regiment, Ibodi Ijesa Barracks, Barr. Jola Akintola, Hon. Commissioner for Health; Hon. Dipo Eluwole, Hon. Commissioner for Education; Mrs. Olusola Omotunde Jenyo, Wife of the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Mrs. Yetunde Ajeigbe, Wife of the Commissioner for Government House and Protocol, the Oloris of Akola Ijesa, the Council of Chiefs, and several other notable personalities.
In Her acceptance speech, Her Excellency expressed heartfelt appreciation to His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Festus Adekunle Adeyemi JALEKUN I, for bestowing upon her this prestigious Chieftaincy title of Erelu Atunwase of Akola Ijesa. She gave glory to God Almighty for the continuous recognition, awards, and honours received both locally and internationally.
She further extended profound gratitude to her beloved husband, His Excellency, Senator Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke, Governor of Osun State, for his unwavering support; and to her family, friends, and well-wishers for their love and encouragement.
Her Excellency reaffirmed that this honour serves as both a call to greater service and a renewed commitment to the advancement of humanity, community welfare, and sustainable development across Osun State and Nigeria.
