Elerinmo kicks off tenth coronation anniversary

The tenth coronation anniversary of the paramount ruler of Erinmo land in Osun State, His Royal Majesty, Oba Dr. Michael Odunayo Ajayi JP, the Arowotawaya II, has kicked in earnest with array of cultural activities smoothly going on eventfully.
The day also saw the opening of the Erinmo Indigenous Trade Expo with the ‘Oba Elerinmo Children Day’ outing where he fetes the children in a style. The day also witnessed inter-school debate including awards of scholarship and distribution of education materials to Erinmo indigenes.
As the event moved into the second day, Tuesday August 6th, Agidanyin Founders Day festival was held, a traditional display of cultural rites by the Erinmo elders and custodians.
The first “Oba Arowotawaya II Beauty Pageant” also preceded, meant to promote the cultural beauty and endowments of the agrarian community. The day also witnessed the King’s unfettered gesture, distributing food palliative to widows and the less privileged in the community.
Day three was perhaps, a recreational respite with a health exercise tagged; “Walk for Life” that preceded a free medical outreach and inter-street football final.
With a kaleidoscope of well curated programme to honour a King, seen as a royal breed with the heart of gold, no stone was left unturned in making sure every activity went as programmed. This attests to how much Oba Arowotawaya II is loved by his people and beyond his domain. The Elerinmo’s palace, even before the start of the anniversary was a beehive of august visitors from all walks of life who thronged to be part of the historic anniversary celebration.
Meanwhile, as the festivities continued, more of the activities in the line up include a traditional dance by the ‘Iyawo Ile Arowotawaya’ that would precede praise and worship session tagged; “Royal Praise Concert.”
Friday will be witnessing conferment of Chieftaincy titles to deserving personalities, with Muslim Jumat service at the Erinmo Central Mosque. Very important historical feature of the day would be the premiere of movie documentary, “ERINMO: Direct descendant of Obalufon Alayemore” and the Maiden Royal Convention. There will also be a regal reunion royally tagged; ‘A night of Majestic Splendor.”
However, the most expected grand finale will come on Saturday August 10, starting with anniversary lecture, book presentation, crowning of a winner at the beauty pageant and the formal launch of the Erinmo historic movie.
The day’s event is to be chaired by the Nigeria former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, with prominent kings and queens including dignitaries from other countries. The event will end on Sunday with a special Thanksgiving Service.
