Oyinlola Chairs Southwest PDP Reconciliation Committee, Assures Party Will Return To Power
Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, former military administrator of Lagos State and erstwhile executive governor of Osun State has been given the assignment to chair the South-West Peoples Demicratic Party (PDP) Reconciliation Committee.
The former governor in his address promised that the party must be united to take over power considering the fact that Nigerians are yearning for PDP to come back, because for every promise made by the All Progressives Congress (APC) government; not one of them has been fulfilled.
Oyinlola who spoke on Thursday at the South-West PDP Reconciliation Commmittee with Lagos State PDP Special Stakeholders said that he didn’t see reason the party should not be united , stressing that they were in power, but lost out because they refused to unite and unfortnately allowed gaps and power was taken over from them
He said, “Today every Nigerian knows that the government of the PDP has never been equalled in terms of performance and keeping promises.”
The former governor promised that the committee was going to consult with the five leaders of the party as requested by some members of the party who spoke during the meeting, stressing that he was hopeful that peace would return to Lagos PDP.
“One thing that must be done is to get to the root cause of the problem.We are mandated to get our report ready before the end of his month. I was once a military administrator of Lagos State and all the people involved are known to me. I have a step ahead in getting solution. I appeal to party members to cooperate with the committee so that we can bring our party to the winning line,” he said.
Dr. Remi Akitoye, a member of Board of Trustees in his welcome address lamented that a former governor of Ekiti State has been coming to Lagos State to cause confusion in the party and divided the executive committee members of the party. He stressed that exterous influence has been the major cause of Lagos PDP problem. He prayed that God would give the chairman the wisdom to resolve the issue. He appealed to Oyinlola to reconcile the Lagos State exco.
The contributions from party members who expressed their views on the Lagos PDP crisis included request that the five leaders of the party, in the person of Chief Bode George, former deputy national chairman of the PDP, Mrs Aduke Maina, Dr Abimbpla Ogunkelu, Capt. Tunji Shelle and Engr. Adedeji Doherty be consulted as the reconciliation progresses. It was also an opportunity for Senator Kofoworola Bucknor-Akerele to commend Chief Bode George who she said was the sole financier of party in Lagos State and should be appreciated by members of the party.
