Aregbesola mocks Omisore’s defection to APC, says ‘Murderers free to join political parties’



The immediate past Governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has mocked the recent defection of Senator Iyiola Omisore into the All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that murderers can join the party.

Osun Herald gathered that Ogbeni Aregbesola who currently serves as the Minister of Interior, said this on Friday, after taking part in the APC’s ongoing revalidation exercise at Ifofin, Ward 8, Ilesa East Local Government of Osun State.

“Though the constitution allows everyone to register as a member of any political party, even if they are suspects, murderers, character assassinators etc, but those who constitute majority of the party membership must represent the core values of the party. What distinguishes us are the values we hold. We value social democracy, to a large extent liberal democracy and progressivism.

“There must be a clear distinction between jolly good fellows and fair weather friends who will still leave our party when they sense a better opportunity elsewhere. In associating with individuals, who you are, your character and world view must come to play.

“More importantly, we must honour the memory of our father, Chief Bola Ige and what he stands for which includes, compassion, commitment to the good of the majority and ideas that will bring good life, happiness, progress and security for the people.

Senator Omisore was sometimes arrested and tried in connection with the murder of the former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Chief Bola Ige.

Although he (Omisore) was never convicted for the crime, Aregbesola and some other politicians in Osun State have always tag him as a murderer.

FHA ED, Remi Omowaiye in Trouble over N150m MIST Fund Fraud

Former Commissioner for Works and the current Executive Director at the Federal Housing Authority, Remi Omowaiye is in fresh trouble over an alleged N150m MIST fund fraud when he served as the maiden Commissioner for the Ministry of Science and Innovation under the Aregbesola administration. Feelers from the state government indicated that shocking details were uncovered on the FHA director during a contract review process on which he was already penciled down over a particular road contract. IGP Egbetokun Conniving with Oyetola and Osun APC to assassinate Adeleke, PDP alleges

The leadership of the Osun State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has accused the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun of hobnobbing with the opposition All Progressives Congress to assassinate the state governor, Ademola Adeleke amid the crisis surrounding control of local government areas in the state.
