Instead of Apologizing to the People of Osun, APC Embarks on a Show of Shame

Image
By Comrade Samakin Abdul-Jeleel Abiodun If the All Progressives Congress (APC) has chosen to forget, Osun people will not. We remember vividly the years of maladministration, mismanagement, and inept leadership that characterized their rule. The records remain open, a painful reminder of how the APC, under the leadership of former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, plunged Osun State into economic setbacks and developmental stagnation. Rather than taking responsibility for their failures or tendering an apology to the people they wronged, the APC now parades itself in the streets of Osogbo under the guise of a so-called “Unity Walk.” What unity are they celebrating? Unity in corruption, in deceit, or in failure? The people of Osun deserve sincerity, not staged drama. It is insulting that those who left behind unpaid salaries, abandoned projects, and a mountain of debts now seek to rewrite history through political jamborees. A party that should be on its knees seeking forgiveness...

Image
Date: October 25, 2025 Gentlemen of the Press, My attention has been drawn to some misleading reports published by a few national dailies and online media outlets following my appearance on Oroki Àsàlá, a current affairs programme aired on Osun State Broadcasting Corporation (OSBC) a few weeks ago. Ordinarily, I would have ignored such publications, but it has become necessary to correct the wrong impressions being circulated about what I said during that programme. For the avoidance of doubt, the discussion I was invited to was centred mainly on the Aro in Osogbo and its cultural significance. Towards the end of the programme, I was asked a single question about whether it is possible for Osogbo to support any who indigine who wanted to contest for post in any political parties ?. In my response, I made it clear that if there is a capable and suitable candidate from Osogbo, our people might support such a person. However, as of now, there is no party that have chosen or se...

Ademola Adeleke: Between Adebayo Adeleke's toxicity and the truth

Image
By Sarafa Ibrahim Toxic people, a New York Times best-selling author and speaker, Mandy Hale warned "will pollute everything around them." And looking at Adebayo Adeleke, a one-time commissioner in Osun state, and his virulent approach to the truth, one cannot but agree with Hale's warning. Good enough, the prolific writer prescribed a remedy and that is "Don't hesitate. Fumigate." This is exactly what this piece is set out to do– to fumigate the brazen untruth that were inherent in a piece: "Adeleke's Renewed Bid to Join APC is Dead on Arrival" authored by Adebayo Adeleke with incontrovertible truth. Let us, for a start, examine the assertion that the incumbent Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has been dismal in terms of performance in education, human development, infrastructure development and security of all the six governors that have presided over the affair of the state. In examining this assertion by Adebayo, we will need ...

Fadahunsi’s Reckless Comment on Amotekun: A Shameful Abuse of Power and Arrogant Overreach

Image
The attention of concerned citizens of Osun State has been drawn to a reckless and arrogant statement credited to Senator Francis Fadahunsi, representing Osun East Senatorial District, wherein he claimed responsibility for the sealing of the operational bases of the Osun Amotekun Corps in Osogbo and Ile-Ife, describing the institution as a “home of murderers.” It is both laughable and lamentable that a man whose political history is soaked in thuggery and misuse of raw power could have the moral audacity to cast aspersions on a lawful and people-oriented security agency that has, since inception, been complementing the efforts of conventional security operatives across the state. For a serving Senator to openly boast of being behind the sealing of a state security agency is not only reckless and irresponsible, but also a direct affront to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Such an act reflects the Senator’s deep-seated arrogance and his dangerous attempt t...

Osun Government Says Governor Adeleke did not Grant Clemency to a Murderer, Accuses Insightinks of Peddling Fake News

Image
The attention of Osun state Government has been drawn to a recent misleading online media report whimsically titled *Osun: Adeleke pardons suspected murderer who confessed to slitting friend's throat for money ritual* . The said speculative online report was not only fake, jaundiced and misleading but totally out of place with the existing reality, as it can also be at best be ascribed to a grandiose mischief to paint the person and government of Senator Ademola Adeleke in bad light . It would be recalled that, few days ago, Osun State Governor, Governor Ademola Adeleke, as part of activities to mark the 65th Independence Anniversary of Nigeria, granted pardon to 36 convicts serving various jail terms in both Ilesha and Ife Correctional facilities in Osun State. The action taken by Mr Governor in this regard in line with his official position as the Chief Security of Osun State, was sequel to a letter referenced OSCHQ.1C/,VOL.XIV/393, dated 25th Sept. 2025 which was ...

OSUN ASSEMBLY WARNS BANKS AGAINST ILLEGAL TRANSACTIONS ON LOCAL GOVERNMENT FUNDS

Image
The Osun State House of Assembly has issued a stern warning to commercial banks in the State, particularly the United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, Osogbo Branch, against honouring unauthorised financial instructions on Local Government accounts. In a letter personally signed by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun, the House drew attention to unlawful financial directives allegedly issued in some Local Governments, including Boluwaduro Local Government, authorising deductions of up to 15 percent of September 2025 allocations in favour of private individuals. The Speaker described such actions as illegal, unconstitutional, and without any budgetary approval, stressing that Treasurers are not legally recognised signatories to Local Government accounts under extant laws. The House reaffirmed that only the Local Government Chairman and the Director of Administration and General Services, both officers of the Local Government Service Commission, are duly empowered to operate such...
