Amidst growing speculation about possible defections to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, all 25 members of the Osun State House of Assembly elected under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have firmly debunked the rumours, affirming their unwavering loyalty to the PDP and Governor Ademola Adeleke.

Addressing journalists at the Assembly complex on Wednesday, 23rd of July 2025, the Speaker declared that no amount of financial inducement from the opposition would sway any PDP lawmaker to defect.

“No matter the billions of naira the opposition may offer, none of the 25 PDP lawmakers will join the APC,” the Speaker stated emphatically.

He further noted, “We are united, loyal, and fully committed to the leadership of Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke and the party that brought us here. There is no division, no defection, and no crisis in this House. The rumours are baseless, and we are not interested in chasing shadows.”

Reinforcing their stand, the Speaker added, “We are men of honour. We are not for sale. We are unmoved by pressure or noise. We hold the sacred mandate of our people, and we intend to uphold it with dignity, loyalty, and a clear conscience.”

He emphasised that the lawmakers remain grounded in their communities and are fully aware of the positive impact of Governor Adeleke’s administration.

“The people of Osun are solidly behind the Governor. They see the progress, they feel the transformation, and we, as their representatives, stand with him.”

Also speaking, Hon. Adewumi Adeyemi, representing Obokun State Constituency, clarified that while some federal lawmakers from their districts may have left the party, all nine PDP state lawmakers from the area remain solidly in the party and firmly aligned with Governor Adeleke’s leadership.

Echoing the same sentiment, Hon. Fatunmise Olumide from Ife-East State Constituency stressed that the Assembly’s resolution extends beyond a vote of confidence. He said, “We are not only endorsing Governor Adeleke; we are committed to ensuring his re-election in 2026, regardless of whatever decision federal lawmakers from our constituencies may take.”
