The award ceremony which took place at the UTH main complex on Thursday, mark a significant recognition of Dr. Afolabi's sustained dedication to transparency, which has contributed to the effective running of the tertiary medical facility in Osun state.

In a remark read the event, the Executive Secretary of Transparency Africa, Ambassador Affikunto said the award is a celebration of Dr. Afolabi's commitment to transparency and accountability, adding that the organisation took into considerations the seasoned medical practitioner records to arrive at his choice for the award.

Ambassador Affikunto who noted that the organisation honours leaders who are credible and honest in their activities and businesses, pointed out that Dr. Afolabi is a distinguished African who has made the continent proud and deserves to be honoured.

"Having carried out our critical and acid test findings, we are indeed elated to announce to all Africans that Dr. Babatunde Afolabi deserves Transparency Africa Honour," he disclosed, adding that "Your track record from being trusted CMD of the UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital is well noticed."

Ambassador Affikunto added that "this (award) is a monumental honour of dignity for outstanding commitment, dedication and inspirational leadership. It is to encourage you (Dr. Afolabi) to higher excellence as a defender of a good and qualitative education, promoter of accountability, avocate of youth empowerment, grassroots development and egalitarianism."

Giving his acceptance speech, Dr. Afolabi appreciated the Transparency Africa for the recognition that the award conveyed, saying the award is a further awakening to the fact that no good effort goes unnoticed in the society. 

Dr. Afolabi who said he rose through the ranks in the UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital to attain his current position, thanked Governor Ademola Adeleke for his firm faith in his capacity to take the institution to a greater height.

He however said the award "is not just to my efforts, but also a tribute to the tireless dedication of our entire team. I am proud to lead a group of individuals who share my passion for transparency, accountability, and excellence in healthcare delivery."

"As we celebrate this milestone, I am reminded of the profound impact that transparency and accountability can have on our society. By promoting openness, honesty, and integrity, we can build trust, foster collaboration, and drive positive change," he added.

Earlier, members of the management team of the UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital took turns to describe the award bestowed on Dr. Afolabi as deserving, underscoring the collaboration that exists in the institution.

Those at the event includes the wife of the awardee, Dr. Adebimpe Afolabi, the Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee, Dr. Alla, the Director of Administrator, Director of Works and Maintenance, Corporate Affairs, labour leaders and a host of officials of the institution.

FHA ED, Remi Omowaiye in Trouble over N150m MIST Fund Fraud

Former Commissioner for Works and the current Executive Director at the Federal Housing Authority, Remi Omowaiye is in fresh trouble over an alleged N150m MIST fund fraud when he served as the maiden Commissioner for the Ministry of Science and Innovation under the Aregbesola administration.
