THE APC GOVERNMENT'S LEGACY OF FAILURE: By Aare Amerijoye

Image
Earlier this month, I dined with a group of friends. Nine of us gathered around the table, deeply engaged in a conversation about Nigeria's current state. Among us was an associate professor and a banker,  fervent supporters of the APC, who couldn't resist extolling the virtues of the APC government. They claimed that since coming to power in 2015, the APC had outperformed the PDP's sixteen-year rule. Their assertion was met with a chorus of chuckles and bursts of laughter. We unanimously agreed that the APC had indeed "outperformed" the PDP—albeit in the reverse order. Unperturbed by our reactions, they proceeded to argue that the APC had kept all its promises. One of us promptly interjected, questioning whether the spread and distribution of poverty, hunger, and suffering were part of those promises. The APC's repeated but unfulfilled promises to revive the Nigerian refineries were cited as a prime example. Each year, new deadlines were set, and ...

Osun Transformation: Dr Deji Adeleke is Proud of His Brother: By Mallam Olawale Rasheed

Image
Intellectual pursuit and excellence are traditionally built on empirical facts. When facts are deliberately twisted to achieve partisan goals, the public, the citizenry, immediately identifies intellectual deceit as a prelude to a likely jaundiced academic thesis.  Applied to the public space and as facts are sacred,  governance analysis from dispassionate analysts, uninjured commentators, and unemotional observers convinced Dr Deji Adeleke, the patriarch of the Adeleke dynasty, that his brother, Governor Ademola Adeleke, is delivering to his expectations and that of the voting public. That same view is held by many Nigerians. A reading of some articles including one by a journalist, Ismail Omipidan raises the imperative of fact checks. I will first submit that the writer's justification for calling out Dr Deji Adeleke is flawed and based on false citations as all four points raised are based on equally false narratives promoted by the opposition. And I will dissec...

Stop the blame game, your Principal,Oyetola, was a complete failure

Image
...Osun Government Tells Omipidan Our attention has again been drawn to yet another dose of disgracefully distasteful press release authored by Mr. Ismail Omipidan, the Chief Press Secretary to the immediate past Governor of Osun State and the current poorly rated Minister of Marines and Blue Economy, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola, dated,Thursday, the 18th of July,2024 . It was entitled, "Violation of Due Process, Procurement Law: Omipidan Blasts Osun Government". To put it succinctly, it is sickening and disheartening to the souls of the right-thinking members of the public, that, Omipidan, in his usual way, could again be playing with the intelligence of the people of Osun state by taking them for granted as being gullible. One would have thought that , with the defeat suffered by his so called principal in person of Mr Adegboyega  Oyetola in the 2022 Osun Governorship election, which was followed by the collosal defeat of APC in the 2023 general election under the leader...
