OSHA 8th ASSEMBLY SPEAKERSHIP, IT IS EGBEDUN O'CLOCK

By 'Tola Adelani

A few minutes before I decided to pen this, I read one Ayo Ologun's opinion in which he made futile efforts to rubbish the personality of Adewale Egbedun, while trying to stylishly prop up some alternatives as the ones qualified to be Speaker. I do not know this Ayo Ologun, but his contribution to this discourse encouraged me to speak about the ongoing Speakership debate in Osun.

Prior to the Ayo Ologun intervention, I read many other posts on Facebook and other social platforms that tried to achieve the same purpose of rubbishing Adewale Egbedun. What most of the posts tried to do was paint Egbedun as an internet fraudster to discredit him in the minds and hearts of his sincere lovers. I think I am familiar with this style of many Yoruba people, if I am to not say Nigerians. When people cannot define how you have attained the height you are at that they have been unable to attain, they conclude you must have achieved yours by fraud. In the mind of an average Nigerian, every young person who has seemingly broken the glass ceiling despite the hardships in the country must be a fraudster.

Inside those small minds, Egbedun's only sin is that he is a successful young man.

I do not blame these people as no one can be wiser than what he knows. They do not know better, so they cannot think of anything better. Exposed, urbane and innovative young people know that success is possible outside of fraud.

Adewale Egbedun, a Licensed Agent with Emaar properties Dubai, who has been in the property business internationally for years, is the one some faceless persons want to drag in the mud for being successful? Indeed, a Prophet is never valued in his own homestead. Barring his decision to stay humble and seek the opportunity to serve his people in whatever capacity, the success he has achieved in his personal endeavor has made him globally relevant.

The same Adewale Egbedun who holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Information System from the University of East London, is the one some persons want to describe as a toddler in matters of Management and Governance? The same one who has made a huge success of his own Construction outfit, Savis Construction Limited? This same Adewale Egbedun, an urbane, globally recognized and greatly accomplished young man is the one some people think is not ripe for leadership of Osun State House of Assembly?

Let us stop the costly jokes please.

Adewale Egbedun enjoys constitutional rights to seek the seat of Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, having been elected as a Member of the House. He is also a widely travelled young man who has imbibed vital lessons from his first hand experience of democracies all around the world. He comes to the table with a wealth of experience garnered from years of work in several countries and democracies. This is the man that should lead the 8th Osun State House of Assembly into a new era of globally-compliant Legislation that will refine the image of the House.

In Osun State House of Assembly, this is Egbedun O'Clock. It is the time for a fresh breeze to blow through the House of Assembly, through refined leadership. It is time for a youthful Speaker whose leadership of the Assembly will show Osun off to the world as a State that is ready for generational baton shift in leadership and governance.

What's more? He has shown over time that he totally understands the need for strong synergy between the Executive and Legislature, as he has built an excellent relationship with the performing Osun Governor, Sen. Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke. The nature of their strong relationship will definitely birth cooperation between both critical arms of government, to birth rapid development in the State.

Get ready for a brand new House of Assembly with the Egbedun touch. Support the vision of this young, patriotic man who will come into the job ready and well equipped to deliver.
