NBA Demands Immediate Release of Withheld Osun LG Allocations

Image
The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has called on the Federal Government to immediately release statutory allocations due to local government councils in Osun State, describing the withholding of the funds as unconstitutional and a violation of judicial pronouncements. In a strongly worded letter addressed to the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, the NBA urged President Bola Tinubu’s administration to end what it termed “a dangerous precedent” that undermines the rule of law and weakens democratic institutions. The Association referenced Section 162 of the 1999 Constitution, which guarantees the financial autonomy of local governments, and warned that continued withholding of the funds constitutes an affront to clear judgments of both the Federal High Court and the Court of Appeal. Quoting the Supreme Court decision in Attorney General of Lagos State vs. Attorney General of the Federation (2004), the NBA emphasized that the President has no power to...

CHIVIDO 2025: Amb Erelu Ngozi Adeleke, Chioma Davido Adeleke Stuns in Miami.

Image
By Chris Onuoha The Davido Miami buzz popularised as “CHIVIDO 2025” won’t fade without a quick glance at the dames that create the news. The frill, glitz and glamour of Davido’s Miami wedding blast, resonates with the stunning steeze of Igbo dames that stir the tide. With the famous Igbo pidgin parlance that says: “Looking butts, killing goat !” (Elewe Ukwu egbue ewu),” meaning, ‘a glance at the alluring lush of Igbo damsel, permeates sacrifice to the goddess of beauty,’ one would definitely be in the know, why the cross-cultural bonding evolves. It is a lineal heritage that started with the Adeleke Matriarch,  Esther Adeleke. Igbo women to the world indeed! But if in doubt, enquire from Adeleke dynasty what the Dames across the Niger has got, to unleash slaughtering of goats at every glance. Amb. Erelu Ngozi Adeleke, wife to the dancing Governor, “IMOLE Adeleke”; Chioma Rowland Adeleke, new toast to the famous Afrobeat crooner, “OBO.” Any wonder the lineage...

Withheld Allocations: Osun People will Punish APC for Illegally Withholding Osun LG Allocations

Image
The Osun state chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) cannot hide under one finger as Osun people and the general public are aware that the opposition party is deliberately withholding Osun local government allocations to punish the people and the performing Governor of Osun state. Spokesperson to the state governor, Mallam Olawale Rasheed issued the rebuttal against a statement by the state APC, adding that “the June 13 judgement of the Court of Appeal sustained the sacking of the APC council chairmen and expressly validated the February 22, 2025 local governments election held across Osun local governments. "The public is further in the know that the APC Chairmen and councillors were sacked by two courts as early as 2022 and their removal was never reversed even by the misinterpreted court of appeal judgement of February 10, 2025. We challenge the Osun APC to point out the exact portion of the February 10, 2022, judgement of the Appeal Court where an order for...
