RELISTING OF APPEAL: WHAT JUDICIAL PRECEDENTS TELL US

Image
By Sarafa Ibrahim On Tuesday, something interesting happened at the Akure division of the Court of Appeal. After weeks of stirring needless controversy and crisis with subjective interpretation of court judgements, the Osun state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are back at the Court of Appeal to get the appeal dismissed by the appellate on  January 13, 2025, relisted.  Although, the application could not be heard on Tuesday due to the inability of the APC to serve its co-appealants in the case, the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) and Babarinde Nurudeen Idowu, the application was a glaring admission of the existence of a subsisting and valid judgement that nullified the October 15, 2022 local governments election in Osun state for violating Sections 28, 29 and 150 of the Electoral Act, 2022.  But that was not the only gist that the whole scenario presented. In November 2024, one of the respondent had approached the Court of Appeal with an applicati...

OSUN APC ADMITS YES/NO CHAIRMEN NOT REINSTATED, APPEALS APP JUDGEMENT

Image
Osun state government is finally vindicated as the Osun State APC and its allies have finally appealed the judgement of the Federal High Court sacking the Yes/No Chairmen. APC had been in denial of the existence of the judgement sacking its kangaroo chairmen and has been holding unto a non - existing court order from the Court of Appeal. Reports indicated that the state APC was advised to face reality and address the FHC judgment which remains unvacated and binding. The application for the re-enlistment of the APC's appeal which was dismissed by the Court of Appeal against the APP's judgment came up today at the Court of Appeal, Akure. Many APC leaders were spotted at the Appeal Court. It would be recalled that the APC initial appeal was dismissed by the Appeal Court due to lack of diligent prosecution which in effect validated the Federal High Court judgement sacking the YES/NO Chairman.  Apart from the denial which has continued to haunt the Osun APC now and th...

Image
● AS PAC ABANDONED KIDNAPPED CHIEFTAIN OF IFE ORIGIN A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Yemi Adediwura, has criticised the continued marginalisation of Ile-Ife, Osun State, by the party both at the state and federal levels, despite the town’s longstanding loyalty and support. FALSE ALLEGATIONS AGAINST OLUOMO KOLAPO ALIMI: A DESPERATE ATTEMPT TO DIVIDE US

Image
The recent allegations against Hon. Kolapo Alimi, accusing him of sponsoring communal violence in favour of Ifon, are not only false but also a calculated attempt to tarnish his reputation. Those spreading these baseless claims ignore the fact that Hon. Alimi has dedicated his life to fostering peace, development, and unity between Ilobu, Ifon and Erin Osun . Given his  deep-rooted ties to three communities, it is unreasonable to suggest that he would instigate violence against a town he has contributed so much to.   Hon. Kolapo Alimi’s connection to Ilobu is undeniable. He once served as a teacher in Ilobu, where he helped shape the lives of many young students who have gone on to become successful individuals. WHY OSUN WORKERS EMBRACE GOVERNOR ADELEKE - SPOKESPERSON

Image
● SAYS  NO N40B IS ALLOCATED TO GOVERNOR'S OFFICE IN 2025 BUDGET The recent statement credited to a faceless labour group on state pension and salary payments to Osun workers should be ignored as the ranting of an anti-labour clique proxying for the opposition All Progressive Congress (APC). Spokesperson to Governor Ademola Adeleke, Mallam Olawale Rasheed said the official organs of labour movement in Osun state are the Nigerian Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress, the two bodies that have variously awarded medals of honour and appreciation to the Governor for his outstanding actions on welfare, pension payments and overall care for Osun workers. In several statements, the NLC and the TUC have described Governor Adeleke as the best to ever happen to the labour movement in Osun state, a position deeply supported by Osun workers and pensioners. NO PLAQUE CAN COVER THE GROSS ABUSE OF $20.5M SOML GRANT, DR AKINDELE TACKLES OSUN APC

Image
The Special Adviser to the Osun State Governor on Public Health, Dr Akindele Adekunle, has described the outbursts of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on plaques affixed to the newly rehabilitated Primary Health Centres (PHCs) in the state as a calculated attempt to distract attention of the public away from the raging questions of accountability that has dogged its members in the immediate past administration on the utilisation of a $20.5 million grant. Dr Akindele dismissed as a fallacy the insinuation by the APC that the Adeleke-led government is trying to take credit for job done by former Governor Gboyega Oyetola, calling on the APC to come out of its illusion by embracing the truth of its failures, particularly in the health sector. "Ordinarily, we would have ignored the ranting of the Osun APC knowing well its usual antics to divert public attention whenever questions of accountability is posed on any of its members," Dr Akindele noted, adding that ...
