Atiku Declares To Run For President

Former vice president Atiku Abubakar has declared his intention to run for the office of Nigeria president. Atiku, the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 general election, announced his decision at the International Conference Centre in Abuja. The PDP 2019 presidential candidate lost to Muhammadu Buhari who was voted into office for a second term. Atiku’s declaration for the 2023 presidency marks the sixth time he will be aspiring for the office of president. The former vice president will contest the PDP presidential candidacy ticket alongside former Senate president Bukola Saraki, Ovation magazine publisher Dele Momodu, Sokoto State governor Aminu Tambuwal, Pius Ayim and other aspirants that will be joining the race.

President Muhammadu Buhari is in a meeting with All Progressives Congress (APC) Governors at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The meeting, which was reportedly called by Buhari, is believed to be focused on ensuring the ruling party holds a successful National Convention on Saturday. The Governors arrived at the vicinities of the Aso Rock Presidential Villa after the weekly virtual Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting. They were led to the meeting by the Chairman of the party's Caretaker Committee Governor Mai Mala Buni.

The PDP Governors’ Forum comprising all elected Governors of the Peoples Democratic Party held its regular meeting on Wednesday, 23rd March, 2022, at Aba, Abia State. The meeting reviewed the excruciating hardship and suffering being meted out to Nigerians by a failed APC led Federal Government; the near collapse of the APC as a viable political party, the readiness of the PDP to take over and offer qualitative leadership options to rescue the nation and issued the following Communique: 1. We lament the terrible pain and hardship facing Nigerians in virtually all aspects of life. THE HISTORY AND ORIGIN OF IJEBU JESA.

 Jesa which hitherto before now was known and called Ijebu Egboro is the ancient historic town in the east of Osun State, Nigeria occupies a strategic position in Ijesaland. In Ijesa division, it is the next most important town politically and in terms of history. Her Oba is the next to the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland. The town is situated eight kilometers north of Ilesa and about 128 kilometers east of Ibadan. It lies approximately on latitude 7.45 degrees north within the rain forest belt and so offers opportunity for farming on a large scale. The people are the core of Ijesas and are noted for their dogged industry. Ijebu jesa was founded by Oba Agigiri Egboroganlada (first Onijebu Egboro) – a son of Oodua Olofin Aiye who was also an elder brother of Owa Obokun Ajibogun. Agigiri means “the battle or war waves hot (A de k’ogun gbona girigiri)”. Ajibogun is interpreted as one who meets war (Ade ba ogun).
